Not sure of a word? Look it up

If you're not sure of a word - its spelling, or its meaning - why not get into the habit of looking it up in a dictionary?  Looking up unfamiliar words can help build both vocabulary and your confidence as a reader, speller and writer.

Most people have a dictionary in the office or at home but it's easy to do if you're working on-line too.  (It's also free!)  I use the Webster's On-line dictionary as it provides loads of background information on a word, usage in films, books etc plus related words and meanings.   

To help get you into this habit I've added a new widget to this site that allows you to look up the meaning of any word.  Just highlight the word you're unsure of or interested in, double-click with your mouse and you'll go straight to the Webster's dictionary.
