Happy butterfly day
I got the chance to see the Warhol exhibition the other day. It was good - well laid out, with enough space to enjoy and admire some of his most iconic work.
One of the pictures that I loved the most though was this one that I found tucked away in one of the lower-ground exhibition rooms. It's called "Happy Butterfly Day".
What a lovely concept. It got me thinking about how nice it would be to say this to people. What kind of day we'd be celebrating.
I think for me "Happy Butterfly Day" would mean a celebration of:
- everything that was colourful and beautiful in the world
- the amazing diversity of human life
- the wider world that we live in, recognising that our actions, our butterfly wings, can make a difference (for good or ill) in other parts of the world
- people who have the courage to step out of the chrysalis
- the importance of flapping our wings and flying free
That's what the picture, the words, the idea mean to me. What does it say to you? I'd love to know!
Happy Butterfly Day to you all.

Joanna, it says to me, "I'm here, too." I began to blog just to play around with it and see if I could do it. I can, so I'm now in the picture with so many other beautiful butterflies.

Robyn, I'm glad that's what the picture said to you.
You certainly can blog (with style) and it's a pleasure to watch you flap your wings and fly :-)

Joanna, just now got a minute to check out your latest writings... and I love this picture. I saw a car this afternoon with a decal on the back window of a stylized butterfly and the words - 'the butterfly effect', and then tonight, I read your post.
Much synchronicity, I think.
Butterflies do remind me of the 'butterfly effect' where even the soft beat of butterfly wings on one side of the world is felt on the other side of the world as it reverberates and gathers strength.
To me, this is such a powerful analogy - it gives me the strength and courage to beat my own, soft little wings... in the hope that somewhere, somehow, someone will benefit from the breeze they create. We each have a gift to share with the world... and we never know who will need what we have to share.
So flap your wings, little butterfly, and fly...
Happy (belated) Butterfly Day Joanna!

Hello Karen and thanks for your lovely message. I love the idea of the gentle breeze from the beating of our wings...
Thanks too for this reminder.
"We each have a gift to share with the world... and we never know who will need what we have to share"
Sometimes its our actions, our words, something we've written, a simple smile. Sometimes it's the words you leave in a comment box. We never know!
Best wishes
Joanna
