A burst of music
"The dance" is one of my favourite metaphors for life - or rather for life lived out loud, for the adventure of being alive.
Every so often I stumble across a quotation that captures that feeling, that mood of the dance of life just perfectly. Here's a favourite that I came across recently, from the Scottish philosopher, Thomas Carlyle.
"Every day that is born into the world comes like a burst of music and rings the whole day through, and you make of it a dance, a dirge, or a life march, as you will."
I wonder if you can hear that wild burst of music today? And if you are ready to join the dance?

Thanks, Joanna
Finding this quote was a perfect start to my day. I'm currently hearing Mambo Italiano :-)
Btw, I love finding these quotes every so often on your site. They always seem to be really apt. Keep them coming, please!

Hi Emma, it's funny isn't it how quotes can have that affect on people. I think it's because they're slightly ambiguous - which means they can work on many levels and with many different people. We find the meaning that we need or have been looking for at just that moment.
I particularly like this one because of it's ending. "As you will". It's a great, understated reminder that we have the power to choose what we make of the stuff that happens to us.
I've been collecting goodies for a few years now and I'm enjoying sharing them here (also useful when afflicted by blogger's block...)
So yes, I'll keep them coming :)
